Update Before the Christmas and New Year Break

Much has happened in the last 4 weeks as we have developed our thoughts on how best to support the Czech Ex-RAF veterans. For a start this Blogspot is starting to take shape under the expert guidance of Petra!
The whole project really took off when we presented our outline plans to potential sponsors on 5 December at Jerry Hermansky's Christmas party that symbolically took place by the Vltava river on the Matylda houseboat. The plans were very well received and Susan Lyne of Harris RF Communications and Jerry Hermansky of Interlink CS immediately pledged funds. Sara Mendes da Costa of Inspired Expressions very kindly offered to make the voice over for the film that we propose to make of the expedition and Jiri Kosnar has offered his photographic and media expertise. The other potential sponsors were enthusiastic and said that they would try to produce something in the New Year. All very positive and a good start.
The next 2 days saw us climbing (by the path) to the top of Snezka, the highest mountain (1602 Metres/5260 feet) in the Czech Republic. It is in the Krkonose mountain range and exactly on the Czech-Polish border. The visibility at 6 am when we started was down to 50 metres and the wind and snow made the conditions quite Arctic. But much fun was had by all, even by those nursing sore heads from the party.
On 16 December I met the Jamie Athill the British Defence Attache in Prague and Mrs Vlasta Šišková the charming vice chairperson of the Czech Ex RAF Veterans Association and we discussed the project and we will meet again in the New Year.
The next event on the horizon is a Christmas paddle on 20 December sponsored in part by HG sport a Canoe and kayaking shop in Prague who have also very kindly agreed to sponsor this project. The next blog will describe this great event.
